2017 RECITAL DAY INFORMATION

Our 9th annual recital “Cirque de Danse” will take place Saturday, June 3 in Blacksburg High School’s Auditorium.

Our show this year will be broken up into 3 separate showcases, with a short 30 minute intermission between each.

SHOWCASE #1 – Monday/Thursday Creative Movement, Basics of Ballet/Tap, Combo I Beginner, Intermediate, Hip Hop II, Irish I, II, III classes

  • All students and parents included in should arrive at 11:00AM on recital day.

  • This portion of the show will begin at 12:00PM, so be sure to tell friends and family to arrive at that time. Please do not hold seats (especially not with programs).

  • Following your child's bow, you will pick them up in their assigned dressing room. You will be free to leave.

SHOWCASE #2 – All solos, duets, and the competition team

  • All students and parents should arrive around 12:30PM on recital day.

  • This portion of the show will begin at 1:30PM. Please do not hold seats (especially with programs).

  • Following your child's bow, you will pick them up in their assigned dressing room. You will be free to leave.

SHOWCASE #3 – Combo II Intermediate, Pointe I, Pointe II, Pointe III, Combo II Advanced, Combo III, Hip Hop III, Hip Hop IV, and Irish III classes

  • All students and parents should arrive around 2:00PM on recital day (unless you're already there).

  • This final portion of the show will begin at 3:00PM. Please do not hold seats (especially with programs).

  • Following your child's bow, you will pick them up in their assigned dressing room. You will be free to leave.

Parents are not allowed backstage in the dressing room. There will be plenty of backstage help to prepare your children for their dances. There will be an assigned chair within the dressing room for your child. Be sure to put initials inside shoes, costumes, etc.

Once you arrive on Recital day, bring your child to the dressing room (you will be shown where to take your child at Dress Rehearsal) and the backstage helpers will take them to their designated chair. This way, parents, you can find your seats, sit back, relax and enjoy the show without having to go back and forth to the dressing rooms.

Attached to these handouts you will see a copy of our program order. Please locate your child’s first dance in the show. Go ahead and dress them at home for their first dance if you wish, but be sure to put a cover-up over their costume so no one can see it until their performance on stage. Also remember to layer their tights depending on which of their dances is first in the show. If you have any questions please let me know.

Each student’s hair should be neatly french braided, unless otherwise told(BUN). Their makeup should be dark enough to be seen offstage, unless otherwise told.

The students will NOT be allowed in the audience during their portion of the show. Feel free to pack in your child’s bag, books, snacks (preferably crackers, grapes, non-staining items), and water to drink.

Once again, NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED DURING THE RECITAL. Please pass this along to any friends or family planning to attend the show. Flashes can cause the dancer’s to freeze mid-performance and lose track of their choreography.

Following our final bow, your child will return back to their dressing room for the parents to come pick them up. The dressing room will be available to your child at the times stated above.

We will be recording the entire performance. If you would like a copy, please make your check payable to “Holli's Academy of Dance” in the amount of $25.00. You may purchase DVDs up until our show.

*******To ensure that there will be seating for all families, please plan to exit the auditorium following your child's section of the recital – thank you, in advance.*****

We have all worked very hard for this special day. Lets all work together to make sure that the show runs as smoothly as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns please call me: 505-1073(cell), 382-1845(Academy), or through email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
